Since we are working on place value, you can help your student by:
Making up numbers that are 12 digits long. Have your student read it, write it, compare it with other numbers as well as make up their own.
Another strategy is using a deck of cards and have students create their own numbers that way. It is important for students to also understand what numbers come between two numbers. For example:
1,458,563 and 1,500,000 Students should be able to think of numbers that are greater than 1,458,563 but less than 1,500,000.
